Description

Mantra Mandala with Dragon is handpainted mandala in black cotton canvas with golden color. There are four dragons in each side of the Thangka. In the center of the mandala, we can see the Dragon. The mantra “Om Mane Padme Hum” is repeated for eight times in the circle.

Displaying a dragon banner is believed to protect one from slander and enhances one’s reputation. Dragons have been a part of the culture for at least 7,000 years. Dragons have long symbolized power, creativity, heaven, and windfall. They are thought to have authority over bodies of water, rain, floods, and storms. In time, Buddhist artists adopted the dragon as a symbol of enlightenment. Today dragons decorate roofs and gates of temples, both as guardians and to symbolize the dragon’s power of clarity.
